The short version: Arkive collects only what it needs to run the app. We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. Your pet data is yours.
Who We Are
Arkive is developed and operated by Tribal Ventures, LLC, a software company based in Douglasville, Georgia. When this policy says "Arkive," "we," "us," or "our," it refers to Tribal Ventures, LLC.

Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly and information generated by your use of the app.
Account Information
- Email address (used to create and identify your account)
- Password (stored as a secure hash via Firebase Authentication — we never see your plain-text password)
Pet & Household Data
- Pet names, species, breed, age, weight, height, length, morph, and photos you upload
- Care records: feeding logs, medication schedules, reminders, vet visits, medical history, lab results, and allergy logs
- Household member information if you share your account with others
Location Data
- Your approximate location is used only when you actively use features like Vet Finder, Groomer Finder, or Dog Park Finder
- We do not track your location in the background
- Location data is not stored on our servers
Photos & Camera
- Photos you take or select are uploaded to secure cloud storage (Firebase Storage) solely to display them in your pet profiles and medical records
- Camera access is only used when you choose to take a photo within the app
Usage Data
- Basic crash reports and error logs to help us fix bugs (via Firebase Crashlytics)
- We do not collect behavioral analytics or ad tracking data
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and maintain your Arkive account
- Store and display your pet profiles and care records
- Send care reminders and notifications you configure
- Power AI features (symptom checker, lab OCR, bill analyzer) — your data is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing and is governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy
- Find nearby vets, groomers, and parks using your location when you request it
- Display weather data relevant to your pet's care
- Diagnose and fix technical problems
We do not use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or use it to train AI models.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Firestore database and Firebase Storage), which is hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure. Firebase provides encryption in transit (TLS) and encryption at rest.
Your account data is isolated by household — other users cannot access your pet records. We use Firebase Security Rules to enforce this at the database level.
While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no internet transmission or storage system is 100% secure. Use a strong, unique password for your Arkive account.
Third-Party Services
Arkive uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, file storage, and crash reporting. Firebase Privacy Policy
- Google Places API — powers the Vet Finder, Groomer Finder, Dog Park, and Pet Food Store features. Google Privacy Policy
- Anthropic Claude API — powers AI features (Symptom Checker, Lab OCR, Allergy Insights, Vet Bill Analyzer, Vet Report enhancement). Content you submit to these features is processed by Anthropic. Anthropic Privacy Policy
- OpenWeatherMap — provides weather data for the Weather & Advisements feature (if you choose to configure it). OpenWeatherMap Privacy Policy
Your Rights & Choices
Access & Correction: You can view and edit your pet data and account information at any time within the app.
Delete Account: You can permanently delete your Arkive account and all associated data from Settings → Delete Account. This action is irreversible and removes your data from our systems within 30 days.
Notifications: You can disable push notifications at any time through your device's system settings.
Location: You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. Location-dependent features (Vet Finder, etc.) will be unavailable without it.
Camera & Photos: You can revoke camera and photo library access at any time in your device settings.
Children's Privacy
Arkive is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@arkive-app.com and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Arkive after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
